You’re on the run now, and while you’ve made some headway, another big group of coneheads are 30 miles away and are planning a pincer movement. For backup, you now call for a pair of ________.
Assume that the trucks, its drivers and two mechanics specializing on your car are disguised and the trucks are loaded with tools and parts to help fix your car no matter what car you’re using, as well as weapons.

You forgot about the DAF 3300 “Double Headed Monster” also twin engined, but with extra storage space and the possibilty to drive backwards by the look of it.
Also the Turbotwin X2 crashed, and threw the navigator out, sadly killing him and the DAF dakar program. The more famous DAF of that year is the slightly more powerfull turbotwin X1, which is famous for overtaking Vataanen.

I’ve searched for the thing but can’t find any hi-res or screen-filling shots, or so it seems.

There are indeed very few large shots of it, most likely because it is currently an ongoing restoration, after the restoration was put on hold due to the financial crisis as rumors go.
Here it is seen with Gerard de Rooy and Vladimir Chagin.
If you want some better, be it old, shots of it try searching for ‘Daf Tweekoppig monster’ or ‘Daf Dubbele Kop’.

Renault Kerax. Because if this has turned into a Rally Raid party, it’s rude not to bring something French.
Plus given the hardon Daesh has for France, they’ll make a great distraction while I run for it

And as per stipulations, you get two of them! One can be a decoy.

Also... If this has turned into a rally raid party, it means the chase is serious business now, and the situation has gone south.
I wonder if those coneheads ride bikes.

I’ll take the Tatra because 6>4

Clearly the Tatra, because more wheels are better. There is even an 8x8 example that was available on BaT . This doesn’t appear to be an actual Dakar truck, but it does have even more wheels which must make it even better than the 6x6 pictured.

This one.

You forgot about all the Unimogs that drive around the Dakar stages and the Tatra race trucks (the on you posted looks like a support vehicle). I believe one of the Azevedo brothers still drives a Tatra race truck. I am Dutch and love what Gerard de Rooy did with the Iveco, but somehow don’t like the proportions of the truck too much. Think I’d have to go with a Unimog or something..

If you don’t mind my question - was that truck based on a firefighting platform, like the ones used in tunnels or forest fires?
![]() 03/18/2016 at 12:26 |

Well the DAF 3300 FAV probably has been used for those purposes too, however this was a custom job, based of a box truck, not even sure if the rear wheels steer.
